With the recovery of livestock production, corn demand is under expansion. Sows added to pigsties in early 2007 begin to give birth to piglets, conducive to the growth of hog inventory. Broiler production is quite profitable current, creating a growing demand for feed. Though egg farms are in the red, egg price has started to pick up. When egg production turns profitable in April, egg farms¡¯ demand for feed is expected to go up.

Corn procurement price experienced a decline in the last few months, dampening farmers¡¯ initiatives in corn sale. Jilin¡¯s corn procurement price has moved south for five months, causing farmers to hold corn from sale. Jilin corn processing enterprises have started to raise corn procurement price.
