Cotton price has enjoyed an upsurge in the international market recently, having a great impact on the domestic market. The current price of Cotton 328 is 5.41% higher than a year ago, but its growth rate lags far behind the international level.
Last week the State Statistics Bureau unveiled the nation?s planted cotton acreage and production in 2007 as 5.59 million ha. and 7.6 million MT, 70,000 ha. and 1.3% more than the previous year, but below market estimates. Specifically, cotton production went up in Xinjiang, Hebei and Anhui, but dropped in Shandong, Henan and Hubei.
