Widespread heavy snowstorms and sleet paralyzed transportation systems and power supply in China?s Northwest, central region and southern provinces from mid Jan. to mid Feb.

Due to power shortage, 50% of the nitrogen plants and 70% of the phosphorus plants are running at low capacity. Chitianhua, Guizhou Meifeng, etc. suspended operation. Nitrogen plants? coal stock has sunk to 30% of the normal level on average.

Fertilizer and its raw material shipment is curtailed by the clogged railway system around the Spring Festival and blocked in regions of snowstorms.
