Coal supply lags behind demand. During Jan. ~ Sept., the production of coal-based electricity, cement, steel and fertilizer increased 16.7%, 15%, 24% and 13.8% respectively on the year-on-year basis, but coal production merely added 11%. These four industries? demand for coal usually accounts for more than 80% of the nation?s total. In the winter heat-supply season, the demand for coal further increases.
