In this year, the inspection and quarantine of wood at Zhangjiagang port is not optimistic. According to the statistics of Zhangjiagang Entry and Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in the first three quarters, the unqualified logs were 229 batches and 19,000 cubic meters, up 8% and 13.7%. The Bureau claimed a compensation of US$2.413 million against relevant countries.

Zhangjiagang port is the biggest distributing center for logs imported via the sea. In the first three quarters, the port totally imported 2.555 million cubic meters of wood. However, since logs were material products, the good and bad logs were intermingled and the import volume was falsely reported.
