A reporter learned from Suifenhe railway wood market on July 10 that wood imported via Suifenhe port apparently reduced this week after Russia adjusted log export duty on July 1, while wood price generally went up for approximately 200 yuan at maximum and over 10 yuan per cubic meter averagely.

It?s learned that from July 3 to 9, volume of logs imported from Russia was 2308 freight cars and 128920 tons, up 444 freight cars and 27144 tons from 1864 freight cars and 101776 tons of the same period last year. Employees of Suifenhe railway transfer station said that import volume of Russia logs apparently decreased this week. It?s anticipated that the import volume will maintain at about 600,000 tons in the next three months, down nearly 200,000 tons from busy seasons.

Wood dealers at the Port Said that import volume of wood did not decrease in the first five days this month, because most importers had not received the wood with increased export duty. Additionally, some wood processing enterprises postponed transportation period. At present, Russia mainly increased export duty of small dimension wood. However, the import volume decreased than as scheduled for profit factor. At the same time, wood market entered into low season. The price of oak with 40-42 dimension increased of 200 yuan per cubic meter; the price of ash with 28-30 dimension increased of about 100 yuan per cubic meter; the price of basswood with 40-42 dimension increased of 100 yuan per cubic meter; the price of elm, poplar, birth, Siberia birch, white pine, Mongolian Scotch pine and larch increased of over 30 yuan per cubic meter averagely and of 100 yuan per cubic meter for 28-30 dimension. Only the price of Korean pine slightly fell due to small demand.
