Due to the flood and water-logging disaster in the south of China and some countries in Southeast Asia, the transpiration was affected, which hindered the entry of wood into Guangdong market and brought the labor price up. The precious log especially black wood species witnessed price hike from April, up one time in one month.

Before June, Merbau maintained high in both import and sales. According to the statistics made by the information center of Yuzhu Wood Market, a batch of Merbau from Malaysia and Papua New Guinea arrived this week, the quoted price was 5200-5300 yuan/cubic meter (diameter over 80CM) and 4300-4400 yuan/cubic meter (diameter less than 79CM).

The price of teak from Burma increased steadily, because the flood affected the wood transportation thus Burma increased the export price of teak. Plus certificate charges and payable taxes, the cost per cubic meter increased by over 3000 yuan to over 10000 yuan on Guangdong market; however, the quoted price of teak in Guangdong was 9500 yuan/cubic meter and did not went up accordingly.

The sharp increase of imported log drove the price of domestic wood up. Now, the quoted price of fir log (2-4 meters) was 10-20 yuan/each higher than before.
