Wood from northeast region: From end of June to July, the new arrivals in Xing Ye wood market replenished the storage to some extent and ensured the supply, but the sale was not good as before. Since July, the sale of ash, basswood and Chinese catalpa was just the same as before; however, the sale of oak and birch started to slid from good sale in May and June. Some tenants of Xing Ye wood market said that wood industry was not prosperous this year, for the total sale in the past few months was low than previous year and July was a low season. The price of wood from northeast region hardly decrease due to cost increase, thus the present price was almost the same to that in the first half year.
Wood from Burma: In the recent month, the market of wood from Burma was different from the steady situation in June. As introduced by some tenants of Xing Ye wood market, the general sale was not good after all the whole wood industry was in recession, but Common Camptotheca and white chempaka was relatively good, which mainly because some furniture manufacturers adjusted plans recently.
Wood from Europe: The hot summer didnˇt heat the market of wood from Europe. Just the other way round, it lingered in low situation and tenants expected no apparent change in July and August. Recently, it was found that some shops were piled with unsold square wood. Some tenants said that since the down stream enterprises didnˇt purchase much in July, the sales of maple and beech maintained the level in June; the general situation was not good.
Wood from North America: From June, wood from North America also entered into low period. Some tenants said that the market situation in July was the same to June, with total sales decreased of about 40% compared with same period of past years. Now, some tenants started to adjust concept to actively deal with the recession of wood industry, such as change or enlarge species.
Wood from Russia: Affected by the low demand of down stream enterprises, wood from Russia did not sell well either in the recent two months. Some tenants in Xing Ye wood market introduced that the sales gradually reduced from May to July. The sale of ash and especially Mongolian Scotch pine was very limited.
