According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the national production of soft drinks stood at 5.46 million tons in Dec., higher by 13.03% from Nov. 2008, or up 28.20% from same period 2007. Of which, the production of carbonated drinks was 1.11 million tons, 58.57% higher from Nov., or up 34.40% from same period 2007, drinking water in bottles and barrels was 2.07 million tons, lower by 2.40% from Nov., or up 46.40% from same period last year; fruit juices and drinks 1.02 million tons, higher by 8.20% from Nov., or up 14.80% from same period last year.

From Jan. to Dec. 2008, China produced 64.15 million tons of soft drinks, up 19.10% from same period last year. Of which, the growth of carbonated drinks, drinking water in bottle and barrels, and fruit juices and drinks were up 10.40%, 23.90% and 12.20% from same period last year respectively.
