Egg production cost was RMB6.33/kg and the producer’s egg price was RMB6.69/kg in May, suggesting a profit of RMB0.36/kg in egg farms.
Subject to rising feed cost and labor cost, egg production cost rose to RMB6.34/kg in June, but the producer’s egg price dropped to RMB6.23/kg due to rainstorms and floods that blocked egg shipment to southern provinces. Thus, egg farms suffered a loss of RMB0.11/kg in June. It is presumed that farmers may cut egg layer inventory to avoid losses.
