China exported 54,500 MT citric acid in May. Citric acid export price hit $999/MT in May, an upsurge of 38.66% on the year-on-year basis, a new high in history.

Causes for the price hike include the following: First, domestic corn price hike and environmental protection cost added to the cost of citric acid production. Second, international citric acid supply went down due to high corn cost. Third, anti-dumping investigation launched by the USA and EU caused Chinese producers to raise export price.
