With the rapid increase of nisin productive capacity, Nisin price has kept going south over the last few years, squeezing producers’ profit margin. China’s major nisin producers are Zhejiang Yinxiang Biological Engineering Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Kangyi Biological Engineering Co., Ltd.

Zhejiang Yinxiang Biological Engineering Co., Ltd., founded in 1994, is engaged in natural food additive production. Jointly developed with the Microorganism Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, its nisin products holds 85% of domestic market and 60 ~ 70% of the world market. Its annual nisin sales value over RMB100 million. The company plans to kick off the production of natamycin and ε-Polylysine this year. The company intends to turn itself into a world level biological ferment and preservative production base in three to five years.

Tianjin Kangyi Biological Engineering Co., Ltd. is a non-state-run enterprise specialized in the research and production of biological products. The company produces 40 tons of nisin a year and exports nisin to all parts of the world.
