China’s urea exports registered 166,000 MT in Sept. and 4.265 million MT in Jan. ~ Sept., down
34.2% but up 81.5% respectively on the year-on-year basis. Urea exports in July, Aug. and Sept.
were below the same period of last year. Due to 175% export tax, urea exports are predicted to be
as small as 500,000 ~ 700,000 MT in the fourth quarter of this year, 1/4 of the same period of last
year. Urea exports may total 5 million MT in 2008, less than last year.
DAP exports were 33,000 MT in Sept. and 711,000 MT in Jan. ~ Sept., down 58.9% and 49.4%
respectively on the year-on-year basis. In the last six months, monthly DAP exports were below
the same period of last year. DAP exports are predicted to be 150,000 ~ 200,000 MT in the fourth
quarter of this year. Total DAP exports in 2008 are predicted to be less than 1 million MT, just 1/2
of last year’s volume.
MAP and NPK exports recorded 21,000 MT and 900 MT in Sept., down 25% and 85.7%
respectively from the month before, down 89.5% and 98.8% respectively on the year-on-year
basis. Between Jan. and Sept., MAP and NPK exports registered 922,000 MT and 350,000 MT,
down 18.2% and 22.8% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
Exports of ammonium chloride, ammonium sulfate and TSP recorded 7,000 MT, 23,000 MT and
33,000 MT in Sept., down 67.6%, 75.6% and 70.1% respectively on the year-on-year basis. There
were no exports of SSP and ammonium nitrate in Sept.
In terms of fertilizer imports, there were 20,000 MT NPK, 495,000 MT MOP and 3,000 MT SOP in
Sept., down 79.2%, 33.9% and 52.7% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
Between Jan. and Sept., NPK, MOP and SOP imports registered 431,000 MT, 3.8 million MT and
86,000 MT, down 39.1%, 49% and 41.4% respectively on the year-on-year basis.
